Stay awake when tired after work
STAY AWAKE WHEN TIRED AFTER WORK
Most weekdays I tend to to fall a sleep on the couch by 8.00 pm. Is there anything that I can do to stay awake a bit longer after work? At least I can watch TV or spent some time with my kids. Imagine they are waiting for us to come home and here we are so tired and being so selfish.
SOME POSSIBLE REASON WHY WE BECOME SO TIRED AFTER WORK
My first thoughts if we are strictly talking food here, is that perhaps you're eating a bit too many curbs in the afternoon:lots of rice, breads, pastas crackers, chips, noodles, fast food with french fries (yummy) pastries and other carbohydrate-dense foods.

These foods are known to be very calming,which would explain why you're so tired at night.
The same can apply to dairy products. In the afternoon, we have to ensure we have a good balance of some carbo, a bit dairy and some protein ti avoid overdosing of any of it, which may force you into an unplanned early slumber.
Another consideration is to eat enough food at lunch and during the afternoon to make sure we are getting the energy our body needs; otherwise we will feel tires. Aim for around 400 calories from lunch and then another 150 - 200 from the afternoon snacks each day. Of which should be fix of carbo, protein and fats. That means selecting lean proteins such as beans, skinless chicken, seafood or lean beef along with whole grains like 100% whole grain bread, whole grain crackers other whole grain types of bread, fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy such as skim or 1% milk, nonfat yogurt, or reduced fat-cheese and healthy fats like salad dressing made from canola or olive oil, avocados or other fats such as reduced-fat sandwich spreads or mayonnaise or soft tub margarine.
If you eat rice, reduce the rice portion and double the vege and protein intake such as fish and chicken.
