STOMACH UPSET IN THE MORNING - HOW TO KEEP IT CALM


My stomach tends to get up set in the morning. What can I eat for breakfast to keep it calm throughout my day?

Yogurt can be a great part of healthy breakfast - especially for those with digestive issues. Why??????


The presence of live active cultures. Look on the label to make sure yours contains them. These 

cultures,called probiotics, work to improve the health and function of 

the digestive system,. We actually have bacteria in our intestinal tract, 
and probiotics help to keep them in the proper balance. Probiotic can be helpful when dealing with a bout of diarrhea, and they can help combat some of the common intestinal side effects of antibiotics, such as gas, bloating and diarrhea. Antibiotics kill all bacteria, even the good guys, and that's what leads to those unpleasant side effects. Probiotics help to replace what gets destroyed and, in doing so, can alleviate those symptoms.

As healthy as yogurt is for us, you need to be careful about what type you choose. It can be a big difference on the amount of calories and added sugar you get. When yogurt first hit the ,market a few year ago, you had one choice: plain. Fast forward several years dozen years, and you can get anything from strawberry, apricot and many other flavors. 

All this can contain a lot of sugar and close to 200 calories, which seems like more of a 

dessert than a healthy snack or breakfast option. In fact, these really aren't bad dessert choices, because they give you dose of protein and calcium. However, if you enjoy yogurt as part of a healthy breakfast or a snack, your best bet is to buy fat free plain or vanilla yogurt and mix in real fruit. This way you save a ton of calories and sugar but get the added bonus of serving of fruit.
